Margaret Thompson Henderson was born July 20, 1880 at Parsons, Kansas to John and Sophia Thompson. She enrolled at the University of Kansas in 1898, graduating Phi Beta Kappa with a liberal arts degree in 1905. In the year of her graduation from the University, she married Willis E. Henderson, a graduate of the University in 1899. In years following the births of their children, the Hendersons resided in Boulder, Colorado. Willis Henderson died in 1950.
